Apache Korea and Uniquest to Distribute CMOS MEMS Microphones PITTSBURGH, PA -- (MARKET WIRE), 18 November 2008 -- Akustica, Inc., the pioneer in acoustic system-on-chip solutions, has appointed Apache Korea and Uniquest to provide sales, marketing, and technical support for Akustica's microphones in Korea. These new distributors join Akustica's lineup of sales teams already working in North America, Japan and China. "This year, Akustica entered the mobile phone market by introducing the AKU1126," stated Mike Elchik, vice president of sales at Akustica. "Akustica is pleased to be working with Apache and Uniquest to provide the best local support to our customers for this and the rest of our microphone portfolio in this key geographic region." Akustica recently announced two new microphones based on its proprietary CMOS (Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor) MEMS (microelectromechanical systems) technology: the analog AKU1126 targeted at mobile phones and headsets and the digital AKU2002C for laptops and other applications. The AKU1126 2mm x 2mm analog microphone enables handset and headset manufacturers to provide enhanced ambient noise suppression by integrating multiple microphones into the same footprint that a single microphone uses today. The AKU2002C digital microphone provides a high degree of immunity from RF (Radio Frequency) and EM (Electromagnetic) interference on the audio path for applications in which the microphone is co-located with power supplies and/or multiple radios. Both of these microphones leverage Akustica's unique ability to integrate the transducer and accompanying electronics into a tiny 1mm x 1mm microphone die.
