Are You In The Market For Forklift Tires?

, 17 October 2018 -- solid tires

The number of forklift models being modeled is on the increase with each passing year. If you are looking for forklift tires there are generally 3 kinds of forklift tires, which you should consider when buying a forklift. We will discuss these 3 kinds in this article.

Cushion forklift tires

Cushion tires are made from strong rubber and are usually best for indoor use. Cushion forklifts use a press-on tire which is made with a metal strip inside and rubber on the outside. If you use your forklift with cushion tires on grass, rocks, and dirt, you run the risk of getting stuck. Since for cushion forklifts, the tire is the only shock absorber on the truck how often must the cushion tires be replaced? Many cushions may have a safety bar on its sidewall that shows when the tire is worn down and needs to be replaced. Remember, when buying a truck which uses cushion tires they are not interchangeable with other pneumatic tires.

Pneumatic air & solid forklift tires

Pneumatic tires are like tires on heavy-duty trucks made with strong rubber for the outdoor and rough terrain. These tires are usually found on diesel or liquid propane gasoline forklifts. Pneumatic forklift tires are of 2 kinds: inflated with compressed air and solid pneumatic tires. The benefits of having traditional air-filled pneumatic tires are that it will increase the life of your forklift due to the extra cushion they give. For solid pneumatic forklift tires, they are perfect for use in timber yards or recycling hubs where there could be nails/glass on the surface, but have less comfortable ride for the operator and more stress on the machine. When looking at different Pneumatic forklift options count the weight, tread intensity, and a tire with good sidewall protection. Usually, Radial tires cost more but last longer and give extra puncture resistance.

Polyurethane forklift tires

Polyurethane tires have about twice the lifespan to their rubber equivalents and are built only for warehouse and indoor use. Using these tires on will result in a gain in traction on a smooth surface. Polyurethane tires are perfect for electric forklifts and are becoming more common because of their ability to carry a higher strength than rubber tires. The need for higher carrying capability is necessary with the additional weight of batteries on electric trucks. The main drawback to using Polyurethane forklift tires is the rough ride from the hard material used in Polyurethane.

Non-Mark

Many manufacturers also provide their customers with a non-mark option for all three cushion forklifts, pneumatic forklifts, and polyurethane. These are typically white or a lighter color and made out of different material for each. With cushions, manufacturers integrate clay to keep the same effect of rubber. The Polyurethanes can color the plastic material a lighter color to produce a non-mark tire.

So there you have it, these are some of the most popular forklift tires available on the market today. It is important that you do your own research beforehand to determine what type of forklift will best suit your needs, and what tire company will be able to meet your needs. For example, Forklift Tire Company offer a line of solid tires in black rubber, non marking rubber, and polyurethane that are made in the USA. They offer free shipping to commercial addresses in the contiguous US, and offer quantity discounts for 4 or more tires. It is very important that you only purchase your forklift tires from an experienced and reputable company.
