Dallas Leadership Foundation and Local Churches Come Together Despite Racial

, 20 March 2017 -- (1888 PressRelease) Transform Dallas, lead by a core group of six churches and the Dallas Leadership Foundation, will have 4,000 volunteers working on more than 250 projects for a citywide community service day on Saturday, April 8, 2017. Leading up to the service day, nearly two dozen Dallas area pastors will swap pulpits beginning Sunday, March 26, 2017 to foster understanding among communities.

Dallas, Texas - On April 8, Dallas Leadership Foundation in partnership with six core local churches will mobilize volunteers from across racial and political lines to serve the city of Dallas by offering relief to those in need. The second annual effort is called Transform Dallas.

Transform Dallas was launched in August 2015 when prominent Dallas churches formed an alliance with Dallas Leadership Foundation to combat division and polarization while showing love and offering hope. A day of service to help those in need was established. The workday is part of a Transform Dallas community service campaign that acts as a springboard for expanding projects throughout the year and annually.

Over 4,000 volunteers are being recruited to pitch in with activities such as feeding the homeless, showing hospitality to refugees, visiting those in hospitals, and renovating homes free of charge. The combined effort is valued at $400,000 with over 250 community projects.

"The goal is for us to serve our community together, which allows us to talk about the powerful benefits of working together despite denominational, racial, class, or political differences," said Wil McCall, CEO of Dallas Leadership Foundation.

The six core churches are Concord Church, Fellowship Church, Friendship West Baptist Church, Highland Park Presbyterian Church, Park Cities Baptist Church and Prestoncrest Church of Christ. They have inspired others to join the Transform Dallas movement. Over 100 churches, corporations and community organizations also back this ongoing campaign.

Beginning on Sunday, March 26, nearly two dozen Dallas pastors will swap pulpits to start or strengthen dialogue among denominations, ethnicities, neighborhoods and income status.
