Data I/O's Application Software Removes Operator
REDMOND, WA--(Marketwire), 7 October 2008 -- Data I/O Corporation's (NASDAQ: DAIO) new application software has eliminated the need for operator interaction in selecting programming tasks during surface mount (SMT) production line assembly. Operators frequently introduce error conditions that limit quality and yield and increase scrap and re-work. With Data I/O's JIT programming solution, the ProLINE RoadRunner, and its application software, the correct programming operation is always selected and matched to the tasks of the other SMT machines.
Using Data I/O's new application software, a leading automotive manufacturing company installed RoadRunners in their assembly plants in Asia. Software was developed for communications with the computer driving the SMT line and the RoadRunner. When the assembly job is selected, the correct product build job is selected from the menu of approved tasks and sets the operating parameters for each assembly station on the SMT line including the chip placement machines and testers and the RoadRunner.
"Because the cost of quality is so important, Data I/O's application software enabled our automotive customer to completely integrate the RoadRunner into their line process. This application software communicates with the RoadRunner and the SMT line controller (PC) (which in turn is connected to the corporate production planning system) ensuring that the exact number of devices/PCBs required are produced and the proper programming job is selected. This control greatly reduces the opportunity for operator error by selecting the correct image or data file," said Bruce Rodgers, Vice President of Marketing & Business Development. "This software is one of several application extensions Data I/O has developed in response to customer requests and provides significant value in streamlining the line operation and removing the need for re-work."
