India, 7 December 2018 -- Wheat plantation is likely to increase this year in India despite ample rain in the central states as higher Minimum Support Price (MSP) and bonus incentives offered by some states are alluring farmers to switch from Pulses to Wheat.
Wheat acreage is likely to go up to compensate the scanty rains which is affecting crops in the northern region, mainly in Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh including Chhattisgarh and Bihar.

Wheat acreage is likely to go up to compensate the scanty rains which is affecting crops in the northern region, mainly in Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh including Chhattisgarh and Bihar.
This year, farmers are likely to reduce sowing of Pulses and move to the cereal for higher remuneration this season.
The cropping area in India's largest producer of Wheat Uttar Pradesh is also expected to go up, Sowing is expected to see an extended session in the state due to the late maturity of paddy.
In Punjab and Haryana, which contribute 45 per cent of Wheat towards national food safety, sowing has been completed in over 95 per cent of the 60 lakh hectares area. Wheat acreage is expected to remain the same in Punjab and Haryana, where it is the predominant Rabi crop. Wheat sowing may extend till December 15.

India's exports of oilmeals during November 2018, provisionally reported at 311,739 tons compared to 369,522 tons in November 2017, down by 16% according to data published by the Solvent Extractors' Association of India (SEA). The overall export during April to November 2018 is reported at 2,043,282 tons compared to 1,855,558 tons during the same period of last year- up by 10%. The export of rapeseed meal is sharply increased to 745,901 (392,463) tons in first eight months, almost doubled mainly exported to South Korea, Vietnam and Thailand. The SEA release added "We understand from Ministry of Commerce/Export Inspection Council of India that China will resume import. GACC ( formely AQSIQ) will able to resume the export of Rapeseed Meal to China once their registration with Chinese Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) is done which is cumbersome process and takes a long time. In case of resumption of export of Soybean Meal from India to China, may take some more time as Chinese GACC team likely to visit during current month to inspect/approve the units. Prior to ban in 2012, China used to import nearly half a million tons of oilmeals viz.
Rapeseed meal 3.5 to 4.0 lakh tons and 1.0 lakh tons of soybean meal from India." The release further added that the Iranian market has opened up for Indian soybean meal. During current year from April to November 2018, about 2 lakh tons of soybean meal shipped against last year just 23,000 tons, supporting export of oilmeals from India.
