FPX -- Powered by Firepond Announces Plans to Offer Configuration and Pricing as a Service
New Platform to Leverage the Renowned Firepond Configuration Engine Out to the Force.com Community
MANKATO, MN--(Marketwire), 7 April 2009 -- FPX, LLC announced today that it is offering its uniquely powerful Configuration & Pricing engine as a service. Organizations will now have the much-anticipated ability to develop and integrate enterprise-class applications utilizing FPX's Configuration & Pricing as a Service (CPaaS) for deployment in the Cloud.
Bringing complex, enterprise-class functionality with CPaaS to the Cloud gives businesses the ability to experience immediate ROI -- something that's not new for FPX. With its SaaS-based Firepond CPQ OnDemand solution, FPX has been successfully helping companies of all sizes realize cost reduction and revenue acceleration associated with critical configuration and accurate quoting solutions since the service's initial rollout in 2004.
The Force.com platform is the first development model FPX plans to support with CPaaS. The service will be available for integration in the fourth quarter of 2009. "Salesforce.com leads the way in promoting innovative cloud computing solutions. The success and rapid adoption of their Force.com platform was a key factor in our decision to offer CPaaS," said Craig Christiansen, President - Technology at FPX. "We are pleased to extend our solution offering and expand our long term relationship with salesforce.com."
"Our ability to adapt and change as technology improves has kept us the leader in the configuration and pricing space -- and the only company in that space to successfully evolve from 64K computing to the Cloud," Christiansen noted. "Our phenomenal success with the SaaS-based Firepond CPQ OnDemand quoting application has led the way for this next generation of configuration, pricing and quoting functionality. The opportunity for companies to integrate any number of services into their own business applications built on the Force.com platform will provide excellent value and flexibility."
"FPX is often approached by companies that use outdated tools for maintaining their product and price data. Their sales channels struggle to produce accurate quotes and work with inadequate price management," Christiansen explained. "The result is inaccurate orders that require re-work and incorrect pricing that results in lost margin. By investing in front-end applications that help sell accurately and price correctly, enterprise businesses are immediately rewarded with improved margins during the quote to revenue process. This ROI is now being recognized by companies who have deployed Firepond CPQ OnDemand. Tens of thousands of salespeople are improving margins across multiple industries."
Audrey Spangenberg, Chairman and CEO of FPX, stated, "CPaaS is a significant addition to our product application suite that delivers our world class configuration and pricing solutions to customers via a web based custom application. FPX looks forward to having the opportunity to present, at Cloudforce London 2009 on April 7th, our expanding group of products that deliver vital immediate ROI and real value for our customers by delivering the perfect quote and making their salespeople more productive."
