Ludesi Announces New Image & Data Management Software for Its 2D Gel Image Analysis Service

LUND, SWEDEN--(Marketwire), 4 December 2007 -- Ludesi AB, developer and provider of the industry-leading Ludesi Image Analysis Service for 2-dimensional electrophoresis gels, today announced the immediate availability of a major new software application to complement its analysis service. The new Ludesi REDFIN Image and Data Management software features a powerful and intuitive user interface that allows researchers and scientists to quickly and easily view, analyze, and manage results from the Ludesi 2D gel image analysis. Ludesi has also made its service accessible to a broad range of organizations by offering a flexible, pay-per-sample online payment method via credit card. The new REDFIN software is available for free as a download at: http://www.ludesi.com/download.

"Ludesi is easily the best 2D gel image analysis option on the market: fast, efficient and easy to use! The results look really good and are clear and easy to find using the highly-interactive visualization tools within the REDFIN software. Also, Ludesi has a highly accommodating and professional team that always answers our queries promptly and to our satisfaction," stated Randeep Rakwal, Researcher at Human Stress Signal Research Center, National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), Japan.

"Now for the first time ever it becomes possible for any proteomics laboratory to order reliable 2D gel image analysis on a per-sample basis over the internet," comments Ola Forsstrom-Olsson, CEO of Ludesi. "Traditional 2D gel image analysis requires significant investments in software and training of personnel and is widely acknowledged to be cumbersome, slow and suboptimal. The Ludesi REDFIN software together with Ludesi's Analysis Center makes 2D gel image analysis fast, reliable, hassle-free, and very cost-efficient."

The new Ludesi REDFIN software has been tested over the past months by a select group of pharmaceutical companies and research institutes from around the world. Some of the beta testers include: Johns Hopkins Bayview Proteomics Center, Mayo Clinic Proteomics Research Center, National Institutes of Health, Organon, Vertex Pharmaceuticals, and the National Institute of Advanced Science and Technology in Japan.

"After experiencing Ludesi's offering and service levels, it was evident that Ludesi can provide us with a fast, cost-efficient and hassle-free way of getting reliable data from 2D gel images. The new Ludesi REDFIN software is a great added value to our gel-based proteomics work-flow," stated Alain van Gool, Director Genomics and Proteomics at Organon.

"I am very impressed with the Ludesi REDFIN software! Using Ludesi for 2D gel image analysis, I get much better image analysis compared to using other 2D gel software. I just can't imagine doing 2D gel image analysis using conventional software again," commented Carolina De La Torre, proteomics scientist at Hospital St Pau, Spain.

About 2-Dimensional Gel Electrophoresis

Two-dimensional gel electrophoresis (2DGE) is a key technology in the growing field of proteomics, which involves the study of protein structure, expression and function within a cell. The field of study is of vital importance because most diseases are discovered from biomarkers produced at the level of protein activity. Accurate detection and analysis of proteins can speed up the identification of new drug targets that can be used to diagnose and treat diseases. In two-dimensional gel electrophoresis (2DGE) experiments, the image analysis plays a crucial part in the overall reliability and accuracy of the results from an experiment.
