25,000 crowd expected to enjoy songs from the Beatles by top local celebrities at Marina Bay Singapore, 27 June 2008 -- The National Day series of celebrations that starts from 16 July to 24 August 2008 will include a mega concert that will showcase performances of songs from the Beatles. With the theme ‘Come Together’, the concert aims to raise awareness of Family Life Centre that will be celebrating its 12th year of community service. The concert will be graced by Mr George Yeo, Minister for Foreign Affairs. The Heart Rock Concert will be one of the signature events to be celebrated during the NDP 08 Celebrations Calendar. More than 15 top celebrities will be performing hits from the Beatles for the 3 hour long concert. Prior to the main event, audience will be entertained with a pre-concert that feature students that will be participating through ‘Songs I Write!’ (http://www.songsiwrite.com). Commenting on the concert, Mr Henry Foo, Chairman of the NDP 08 Celebrations’ Heart Rock Concert Committee said, “We are pleased to be making history in the NDP celebrations. The concert is aimed to add on to the celebrating of the Singapore spirit and to offer Singaporeans the opportunity to enjoy a star-studded entertainment and songs that cuts across generations.” The concert will be hosted by Family Life Centre to commemorate their 12th Anniversary Celebration. Family Life Centre is a voluntary welfare organisation registered under the Charities Act 1994 whose core services lies in providing family cum marital enrichment programmes and youth outreach.
