Pick the Best Metals for Your Taps and Handles

, 21 September 2018 -- More Than 199 Kitchen Taps in UKTAPS.CO.UK Online UK Taps Store.Explore our extensive range of stylish kitchen taps to find the perfect match for you and your kitchen

When planning a new kitchen or overhauling an old one, handles, UK Taps and accessories can sink to the bottom of your priority list, submerged under a sea of big decisions. However, the hardware you choose will have a big impact on the final look and feel of your kitchen. Take time to decide which finishes will work for you and select pieces that either match perfectly, or mix effectively.

As someone who bought – and returned – at least four sets of kitchen handles before finally shipping some over from the UK, take it from me, not all silver-toned metals will work with your cabinets nor, necessarily, with any other metals on show in your kitchen. It’s a process of trial and error. If your budget is stretched, go for high-quality Kitchen Taps but affordable handles – there are plenty of bargains available online. Stick or twist, the choice is yours.

Nab some nickel
A favourite of interior designers and architects due to its subtle, warm tone, nickel is available in both brushed and polished finishes. It coordinates well with stainless steel and suits most colour schemes. In this kitchen, the brushed nickel tap glows softly against the royal blue wall.

Stick to steel
Stainless steel is a timeless choice for LED Kitchen Taps and hardware and has added versatility because its colour reads neither warm nor cold. When making a feature out of steel finishes, as here, try to ensure all elements have matching ‘grain’ that runs in the same direction.

If your kitchen incorporates an exterior door, stainless steel makes for a hard-wearing handle, as opposed to plated finishes, which will tarnish over time.

Go for chrome
Chrome has a distinct blue hue and is best partnered with cool-toned or neutral colour and matching hardware. Choose chrome for contemporary kitchens with an urban edge or to sit alongside stainless steel for a utilitarian space.

Brass + copper
For a subtle colour clash that adds character to your kitchen, try combining brass and copper. Here, a traditional-style brass mixer Antique Kitchen Taps looks at home next to a copper worktop – both old-school kitchen materials, yet the setting is contemporary.

The result is not fussy, scullery-style look, a nod to history rather than a period pastiche, achieved because the backdrop is crisp and minimal with plenty of white.

Nickel + brass
Like copper, brass also combines well with nickel for a rich, layered look. Brass cup handles and hinges on these navy, Shaker-style cabinets introduce an apothecary atmosphere to this stylish space, as well as complementing the warmth in the nickel tap.
