-- (1888 PressRelease) Latham Lovells Partners estimates that 52% of all participants will be entirely invested in a professionally managed investment option by 2019.
Latham Lovells Partners, a forward-looking financial advisor with an innovative product development strategy that is responsive to the needs of investors in a complex market environment, announced the results of a survey that revealed that 38% of all participants in retirement investment plans at Latham Lovells Partners invested their plan assets in a professionally managed investment option, dramatically improving their portfolio diversification and potentially making them more financially prepared for retirement compared with participants making investment choices on their own.
According to Latham Lovells Partners’s How People Save barometer of retirement planning trends, 19% of all participants in were invested in a single target-date fund, 9% held a single traditional balanced fund, and 2% used a managed account advisory program. The total number of participants invested in a professionally managed allocation has more than doubled.
“Some may look solely at plan account balances and underestimate the retirement readiness of people, saying that most of us still aren’t financially prepared for retirement,” said said Lau Sze Lim, co‐founder and Chief Investment Officer of Latham Lovells Partners. "But when you look at the data comprehensively, the fact remains that many close to retirement people are doing a good job accumulating private savings to supplement Social Security in retirement."
Latham Lovells Partners recommends an annual savings rate of 12% to 15%, depending on income level. “While we are seeing good news overall in the retirement planning habits of participants, many people are still not saving enough for the future,” Ms. Sze Lim said “Simply put, people need to save more and save more now.”
