10.30 am – 12.30 pm
Imagination Room, Level 5
National Library Building

As part of the exhibition on S. Rajaratnam, join us for an exclusive peek into his literary side via a book penned by MP Irene Ng.

The first of S. Rajaratnam’s two-part biography, the book will be launched on 4 February and is devoted to the memory of S. Rajaratnam and his enduring vision. In this exclusive session, join author MP Irene Ng as she shares her writing journey and that of S. Rajaratnam.

A voracious reader, Rajaratnam was influenced by a wide variety of literature, ideologies and philosophies throughout his life. His insatiable appetite for knowledge helped develop his analytic mind and these values are reflected in his writings, be they speeches, radio plays or short stories.

Associate Professor of English Literature and Creative Thinking (Singapore Management University), Kirpal Singh will join Irene Ng in facilitating this exclusive discussion. A/P Singh has authored and edited over 16 books and is a poet, literary and cultural critic.

Sinnathamby Rajaratnam, also fondly remembered as S. Rajaratnam, is regarded as one of the founding fathers of independent Singapore. As Singapore’s first Culture Minister, Rajaratnam is also known as a strong believer in multiracial Singapore and is the author of Singapore’s National Pledge.
