Registration Opens for J.P.Morgan Corporate Challenge® 2010
Singapore hosts the seventh installment of the world’s most popular corporate sports event
Singapore, 11 February 2010 -- Registration is now open for the seventh annual J.P.Morgan Corporate Challenge® in Singapore, an event that has established itself as one of the most popular on the local sports and business calendars.
Registration will be available exclusively online (http://www.jpmorgan.com/cc) for the 5.6-kilometre team road race that will be held on Thursday, 6 May, 2010 with a 6:00pm race start at Esplanade Drive.
Appealing to all sizes and types of businesses, last year’s Corporate Challenge saw a capacity crowd of almost 10,000 runners and walkers from 330 companies participating in one of the biggest corporate sporting events in Singapore. Due to popular demand, race organizers are investigating changes in the race course that would accommodate an expanded capacity to over 12,500.
The huge turnout last year saw Starhub leading the biggest contingent with more than 400 Starhubbers. Temasek Holdings, Citigroup, PricewaterhouseCoopers and M1 were among the companies that entered with more than 200 employees in 2009.
“The J.P.Morgan Corporate Challenge® provides clients, staff and of course the people of Singapore the opportunity to come together at an event which celebrates and promotes the benefits of healthy competition, employee camaraderie and community spirit. J.P. Morgan is proud to be a supporter of an event which has become such an important fixture in the calendars of many thousands of people in Singapore," said Philip Lee, CEO of J.P.Morgan.
The entry fee for the 2010 J.P.Morgan Corporate Challenge® in Singapore is S$50 per entrant. All entries must be part of a corporate team, with each team needing to register a minimum of four employees. There is no limit to the number of employees that can be on a company team, but due to capacity restrictions, large teams should complete their registration early.
Corporate Challenge Prizes and Awards
Vivian Tang, representing CIMB GK Securities and Andrew Hallam of the Singapore American School took home the women’s and men’s individual titles respectively in 2009. The winning teams last year, Bikelabz (men’s team), Singapore Armed Forces (women’s team) and the Singapore American School (mixed team) will join the winning men’s, women’s, and mixed teams from 11 other Corporate Challenge cities at the J.P.Morgan Corporate Challenge® Championship in Johannesburg, South Africa on 4 March 2010.
If you are more artistic than athletic, every J.P.Morgan Corporate Challenge® event incorporates a T-Shirt Design Contest open to all participating companies. Every team is encouraged to design, produce and wear a t-shirt that best exemplifies their corporate philosophy and team spirit. Designs should incorporate the official Corporate Challenge Series logo, event name or any other element of the race. Teams which submit the top two designs will have the opportunity to choose a charitable organisation to receive a donation of USD $1000 from J.P.Morgan. All entries will be displayed in advance on the Singapore home page of the Corporate Challenge Web Site, http://www.jpmorgan.com/cc.
A History of Success
The J.P.Morgan Corporate Challenge® has gained tremendous popularity and participation since 2004 when the company expanded to two new continents, with inaugural races in Johannesburg, South Africa, and Singapore.
The Singapore event has been a consistent success. It debuted in April 2004 with 6,766 entrants, the largest first-year event in JPMorgan Chase Corporate Challenge Series history. It grew to 9,350 in 2005, and since 2006 has enjoyed a full capacity of entrants.
