3rd Locally Registered Paranormal Group Aims To Be Global Reference Point for Asian Supernatural Singapore, 27 July 2006 -- Channel 5’s Incredible Tales, Suria’s Dimensi 4 and AXN Supernatural are just some of the current supernatural-theme programmes that are a hit with Singaporeans. In addition, an endless stream of supernatural-based books and movies, including 2 upcoming horror films by Raintree Pictures, seems to suggest that Singaporeans have a fixation on the spiritual realm. To help Singaporeans and the rest of the world better understand the Asian supernatural that still grips the modern Singapore lifestyle, a group of paranormal enthusiasts have decided to band together and form the Organisation for Supernatural Research and Investigation or SUPERNATURAL for short. With members representing all walks of life but bound with a common quest to explain some of Asian’s most feared and unspoken beliefs, SUPERNATURAL has over the last 2 months built the most extensive database of ghosts’ variations stretching from India to Japan. But building an impressive catalogue of ghosts is not the only top research priority, SUPERNATURAL is also aiming to build the most extensive collection of supernatural items and artifacts from around the region. Commenting on the relevance of SUPERNATURAL, its Founder and Executive Director Mr Fahmi Rais said, “Our Asian cultures are thick with supernatural beliefs, and like languages, they help characterize our roots and identity. SUPERNATURAL is born from a need and we are not just an organization that conducts research and investigations. We are motivated in preserving our age-old beliefs and to help create a better understanding among the mainstream public of the supernatural practices past and current.” SUPERNATURAL differentiate itself from other paranormal groups by specializing in Asian occultism, demonology, possession and exorcism. Given that positioning, SUPERNATURAL is the only paranormal research group in the world that attempts to unravel the mysteries of the spiritual world as seen from the perspectives of the Chinese, Malays and Indians. Though barely two months in their existence, SUPERNATURAL has already: 1) attracted more than 30 core supernatural researchers and investigators 2) build an online presence through http://www.supernatural.sg and http://www.supernatural.sg/forum 3) conducted the 1st Singapore Supernatural Workshop (in collaboration with the Society for Paranormal Investigators or SPI) on last 27 May 2006 4) conducted the SPI Supernatural Tour on 24 June 2006 5) captured more than 20 images of ghosts (stills and videos) from its half a dozen site investigations to-date 6) allied to international paranormal groups eg London-based Institute of Paranormal Research and United Kingdom Society of Paranormal Research “Supernatural will always remain relevant for as long as religion is still being practiced. Major religions require their faith followers to accept the existence of celestial beings and the forces of good verses evil. While we may not be able to answer all there is to know about the spiritual world, we hope through our contributions, faith believers and skeptics alike will be more enlightened about the unseen” added Kelvin Wong, one of the 18 Supernatural Agents assigned to SUPERNATURAL Investigation Directorate. Moving forward, SUPERNATURAL hopes to create greater consciousness and understanding through its Asian Supernatural Series that caters to public, NGOs and corporate requests for Talks, Seminars, Workshops, Conferences, Forums, Exhibits and Tours. Members of the public interested in joining SUPERNATURAL as Friends or Agents would need to be at least 25 years old, profess a faith, and able to commit to its various research and investigation works. Its current profile of members includes professionals, civil servants, entrepreneurs and faith healers.
