Top Kit Sets Bachelors Back Five Grand
, 22 May 2008 -- Kitting out a bachelor pad with top-rated ‘boys-toys’ costs almost £5,000, according to research.
Huge plasma televisions, top of the range laptops, games consoles, high-end stereos with surround speakers and other gadgets put the bill up to £4,678.97.
The cost emerged in a study by online review site http://www.reevoo.com which named the 15 must-have items for any self-respecting bachelor.
Among the items to appear on the list is a Panasonic 50 inch HD ready plasma screen TV worth £1,351 and the Hewlett Packard Pavilion DV9605 laptop for £699.
Unsurprisingly the living room is home to the most electronic devices.
Chris Winstanley of reevoo.com said: ''Bachelors love to fill their pads with up-to-date technology and appliances. But five grand is a lot of money and it makes sense to do your homework before you buy.
“It’s not surprising that 4 out of 5 men say they are influenced by impartial customer reviews – they give you the real-world comments that you’ll never get on the High Street.
Most of the items on the list help the average bachelor lead an uncomplicated lifestyle - with entertainment, food and drinks at the ready.
The bachelor's living room should have a Proline TTR 65 P mini fridge - ensuring cold beers are no more than a stretch away. The Miele G1222SC dishwasher is also a must as no self-respecting bachelor should get involved in washing up.
Other top-rated electronic items include the Xbox 360 Elite games console, Wharfedale Diamond 9.1 bookshelf speakers and Denon D-m 35 DAB hi-fi mini system.
The full list of bachelor pad items rated highly by reviewers includes:
Panasonic TH50PZ70B 50 inch HD ready plasma screen TV £1,351.00

Chris Winstanley added: ''We've gleaned this information from reviews on the Reevoo website. Having read thousands of reviews, it’s clear that electrical items are as important to men as handbags are to women.''
